Background Check Frequently Asked Questions

Does Nor-Cal EMS require a background check for certification/authorization?

Yes. Nor-Cal EMS will conduct a background check on all applicants for certification or authorization (excluding paramedics, as the State of California provides this function).

Why is Nor-Cal EMS now requiring mandatory background checks?

The public needs to be assured that the emergency medical personnel are well-trained and qualified, not only to provide for their medical needs but that they have passed a criminal background check and that there is nothing in their background that would pose a risk to the public.
