Roads

There are approximately 30,000 miles of paved road throughout the area - a ratio of less than one mile of paved road per square mile.

The scarcity of roads indicates the difficulties that ambulance services in the area have in adequately and economically covering their territories. The paucity of communities, and phone services, lengthens the arrival of already sparse emergency medical services.
