Trauma Patient

A trauma patient is one who has sustained a potentially life threatening injury.

Commonly, these injuries are the result of motor vehicle crashes, including motorcycles and bicycles, criminal assaults, recreation, explosions or accidents in the home. Trauma is the number one cause of death for Americans under the age of 44. It causes more lost years of life than cancer and heart disease combined.
