Question: Who invented the thermometer?
Answer: Galileo

1903 - Willem Einthoven invented the electrocardiogram. He coined the term electrokardiogram (EKG) now changed to electrocardiogram (ECG).

1816 - Dr. Rene Laennec developed the first monaural stethoscope. He rolled 24 sheets of paper to make a tube. One end placed on the patient's chest and the other end in the doctor's ear. The first stethoscope was made of wood and was designed for use by one ear. By 1852 it had been modified to a two-ear instrument with rubber tubing similar to those used today. By 1855 a stethoscope similar to the one used during most of the 20th century became available.

1948 - George de Mestral began the design for Velcro and by 1955 the final design was patented.

1921: Earle Dickson, cotton buyer for Johnson & Johnson invented the band-aid.

1950s: The United States pioneered helicopter-ambulances during the Korean War.

1968: St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City started the first mobile coronary care unit.
