January 17, 2011 - Memorandum - Electronic Patient Care Records

MEMORANDUM

To: All Prehospital Providers in the Nor-Cal Region
From: Kara Davis, RN, EMS Systems Director
Date: January 17, 2011
Subject:      Electronic Patient Care Reports, (e-PCRs)

After much review and discussions with several vendors, we have entered into a contract with Sansio to provide an electronic PCR program application. This contract is based on a monthly subscription and will provide us with an e-PCR program application through September 30, 2011.

There will be no cost to providers if our anticipated call volume is accurate. We plan to seek outside funding for the electronic system beyond September 30.

It will be important that anyone wanting to participate let us know and plan to attend a “train the trainer” session February 14 and 15 with Sansio representatives. The training will be provided at no cost to you and will be held in Redding at Nor-Cal EMS.

Here is a quick overview of Sansio:

Sansio is based in Duluth, Minnesota - and they have built a significant market share in the EMS software market. Customers range in size from small volunteer departments to departments doing hundreds of thousands of calls per year. Sansio serves both private and governmental EMS agencies. Their highest profile customers include Kansas City Fire/ MAST in Kansas City, REMSA in Reno, NV, Fire Department of New York, St. Paul Fire and Las Vegas Fire Department. They are currently being deployed at Los Angeles Fire Department.

They provide the most utilized e-PCR solution in the EMS market. This year alone their HealthEMS e- PCR solution will document over 3.5 million patient contacts. They provide flexibility in reporting and QA/CQI functionality and are experts at system integration.

The implementation date for the Sansio e-PCR program is March 1, 2011. I am very excited about this program and we hope that you like it as much as we do.

Please let me know soon if you would like to participate in the e-PCR program. I have paperwork for you to fill out so Sansio can start working on our database, which I need back by Friday, January 21.

Please contact me if you have any questions.
