Emergency Training:
Hazardous Materials Decontamination

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This hands-on 8-hour course focuses on effective victim and responder decontamination activities at a hazardous materials incident or a location where contaminated victims might present on their own, such as a healthcare facility.

 

Content will include: decontamination types and methods, personal protective clothing, medical considerations, rescue contingencies, decon area layout and equipment, and a functional exercise.

Current FRA (First Responder Awareness) or FRO (First Responder Operational) training is a prerequisite for this course. FRO training is available Thursday, August 16.

 

COURSE DATES, TIMES AND LOCATION:

  August 17, 2012 (healthcare responder emphasis) TCLS, 610 Washington St., Weaverville

  August 18, 2012 (fire rescue emphasis) WVFD, 125 Bremer St., Weaverville

Each course time is 0800 to 1700

 

INSTRUCTOR: Brian Heinz, Chemical Safety Training

 

COST and CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT:

This course is provided free of charge through the cooperation of the California Emergency Management Agency & the Trinity County Office of Emergency Services.

EMS CE: Those successfully completing this training are eligible to receive 8 hours of Continuing Education Credits from the Rural Response Group, EMS CE Provider #64-5306.

Nursing CE: Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing Provider #CEP 15211 for 8 Contact Hours.
