November 11, 2019 - Clarification of Air Medical Policy

MEMORANDUM

To: EMS Ground Providers

From: Shawn Poore, EMS Specialist

Date: November 7, 2019

Subject:      Approved Supraglottic Airway

This is a reminder that as of December 31, 2019, the King Airway will no longer be the approved supraglottic airway in the Nor-Cal EMS region. The i-gel is now the approved device.

The i-gel, as the approved supraglottic airway, must be in place with training completed no later than January 1, 2020.

Training must be completed with a staff roster sent to our office prior to their use. Additionally, your provider agreement with Nor-Cal EMS must reflect optional scope for your EMT's before they are able to utilize them.

Note: If your Agency's current agreement reflects approval for King Airway EMT Optional Scope, this memorandum represents the approval to utilize the i-gel.

Contact Nor-Cal EMS with any questions at 530-229-3979 or via email at: mail@norcalems.org

Please share this information with your staff and other interested parties.

Download the Memorandum PDF to post at your location and share with others.
